Out of the Gloom

Chicago Chicago!

The last couple weeks in my car and on the Stereo at home Chicago luminaries have been juking it out! These 2 quality compilations have been doing the business for me at present: Derrick Carter House Masters &  Only 4 U – The Sound of Cajmere & Cajual Records.

Derricks offering sees him delving into his back catalog and finding some classic boompty tracks. The energy is high and there’s several tracks which will be finding their way in to a house mix from me sometime soon.

The offering from Cajual is as solid a rock. This label first came to my attention around 10 years ago when I managed to pick up a copy of ‘The many shades of Cajual Volume 2′ mixed by Derrick Carter for a few pounds from Cash Generator in Bolton. I still can’t believe I picked it up on there and after a couple listens it has firmly become one of my all time favourite mix CDs.

This new CD which is a retrospective of tracks released over the last 20 years and showcases some absolute classics old and new. Hand picked by the labels creator Cajmere and handily unmixed for all the DJs. There are far too many tracks to recommend on this one. But the Glenn Underground Cuts (The Wheel, Beyond), Deep Sensation – Get Together were all new to my ears and properly did it for me. If your a fan of anything deep, inspiring and from detroit then this is massively worthy of your attention.

Yes, dig the Cajual compilation. But the Deep Sensation track is not from Detroit, it’s strangely from Glasgow UK.. Cool tracks..

Thanks for info on the Deep Sensation track. Thinking back Glasgow is/was a little haven for some fine house music over the years.
